YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR MAC

Privacy Policy

Lookout is a transparency tool, so transparency about our own practices is the point. Here is exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.

The most important thing to know
Everything Lookout monitors on your Mac — processes, network connections, performance data — is analyzed on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers and we never see it.
01

The short version

Wuest Software Labs (“we,” “us,” “WSL”) builds Lookout, a macOS app that shows you what your Mac is doing. This policy explains how we handle information across our app and our website at wuestsoftwarelabs.com.

Lookout analyzes your system data locally — it stays on your Mac.
We don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers.
We collect only what we need to sell, license, and support the software.
02

What Lookout collects on your Mac

To do its job, Lookout reads information about your running processes, network connections, and system performance. This information is processed entirely on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no ability to access it.

Lookout makes two kinds of outbound request, and only when the relevant feature is enabled:

Threat & reputation lookups

When threat detection is on, Lookout may check a connection's domain or a file's signature against third-party threat-intelligence feeds. These lookups send only the specific indicator being checked — never your broader activity.

License & update checks

Lookout contacts our servers to validate your license and to check for new versions. These requests include your license key and basic app/OS version info, nothing about your monitored activity.

03

What we collect on the website

When you visit wuestsoftwarelabs.com or contact us, we may collect:

Contact details you give us — your name, email, and message — when you fill out a contact or support form.
Basic analytics — aggregate, privacy-respecting metrics such as page views and referrers. We don't build advertising profiles or sell this data.
Essential cookies needed for the site and checkout to function. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
04

Payments

Purchases are processed by Stripe. When you buy Lookout, your card details are entered directly with Stripe and handled under their privacy policy — we never see or store your full card number. We retain a record of the transaction (order ID, email, license key, amount, and date) so we can deliver your license, provide support, and meet tax and accounting obligations.

05

How we use information

We use the limited information we collect to:

Deliver your license, process your purchase, and provide updates.
Respond to your support requests and questions.
Keep the app and website secure and working correctly.
Comply with legal, tax, and accounting requirements.

We never use your information for advertising, and we never sell it.

06

Sharing & third parties

We share information only with the service providers that make the product work, and only as needed:

Stripe for payment processing.
Threat-intelligence providers for the indicator lookups described in section 2.
Hosting & email providers that run our website and respond to your messages.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public. We do not sell personal information to anyone.

07

Data retention

We keep purchase and license records for as long as needed to support your license and meet our legal obligations. Support correspondence is kept only as long as it's useful for helping you. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to records we're legally required to retain.

08

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, reach us through the contact form at wuestsoftwarelabs.com/contact and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

09

Children

Lookout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Lookout or the website after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
